Dying Matters Awareness Week takes place from 4–10 May and aims to encourage people to have open and honest conversations about death, dying, and end‑of‑life care.
Talking about death and dying can feel difficult or uncomfortable, but having these conversations early can help people feel more informed, supported, and in control of their care and wishes. It can also help loved ones understand what matters most to someone if they become unwell in the future.
During Dying Matters Awareness Week, we encourage patients, families, and carers to:
- Start conversations about future wishes and preferences
- Learn more about advance care planning
- Seek support or advice if they have concerns about end‑of‑life care
You do not need to face these conversations alone. Healthcare professionals can provide guidance and support, and there are also national organisations offering information and practical resources.
If you would like to speak to someone or would like more information, please contact the surgery or visit the Dying Matters website for further support.
