From 18–24 May 2026, Breast Cancer UK is running its annual Prevention Week campaign, focusing on endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) which are chemicals found in many everyday products that may affect hormone health and increase the risk of breast cancer.
EDCs can be present in items such as food packaging, non-stick cookware, cosmetics, skincare products and household cleaning products. Research suggests that long-term exposure to some of these chemicals may disrupt hormones and could contribute to health conditions including breast cancer, infertility and obesity.
Throughout the week, Breast Cancer UK will share expert advice, podcasts, blogs and practical guidance to help people better understand EDCs and make informed choices at home. Topics include safer beauty products, reducing exposure in the kitchen, understanding hormone health and how to support stronger UK chemical regulations.
The campaign also highlights the importance of prevention and raising awareness of environmental risk factors linked to cancer.
