We are experiencing a high number of calls about Meningitis B and vaccinations
Our current position is as follows:
- The Meningitis B vaccine has been given to children under two years of age since September 2015.
- Currently there is no catch up regime and the vaccine cannot be given to those over the age of two under the NHS.
- The Meningitis B vaccine can be given to adults privately and some pharmacies will offer this service.
- The Meningitis ACWY vaccine is given at school, ages 13-14, if patients have not had this they are eligible for a catch up at the surgery until their 25th birthday.
We understand that patients/parents might be worried, and if their child is at University this should be their first port of call for updates. Find more detailed information here: Cases of invasive meningococcal disease notified in Kent – GOV.UK
